Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate
Note: As of January 1, 2022, per the “No Surprises” Act, this information is required to be posted on our website.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
I currently have a few sliding scale spots available for those who cannot afford my normal rate.
What can I expect during your free 15 minute consultation?
This is a casual conversation where we get to know each other a bit.
Some questions that I like to ask during this time include:
What brings you to therapy?
Have you gone to therapy before? How did that go?
What goals would you like to reach by going to therapy?
You can ask me questions as well. You might be curious about about my approach, what a session will be like etc. The most important part of the consultation is that you feel I’m a good fit for you. If so, then we can schedule a time via Mindful Therapy Group.
How do I get started?
I am currently contracted with Mindful Therapy Group for initial scheduling, insurance, and billing purposes. Click here to get started on the process!
Can we meet in-person?
Unfortunately, I am not offering in-person services at this time.
How often do we meet?
I am currently only offering sessions on a weekly basis at this time. I know this is a big commitment and not for everyone but it’s generally the most effective and helpful. Once established in therapy, we’ll have ongoing conversations about frequency and reducing it to a bi-weekly, monthly, or as-needed basis.
I'm nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?
It's definitely normal to be nervous about starting therapy.
Talking with someone about how we feel can feel overwhelming. And it takes a lot of courage to even begin therapy or admit we need help with issues that have been plaguing you.
Therefore, I try to make the sessions as easy-going and free-flowing as possible so that you feel as comfortable as possible, even when talking about difficult topics.
I’m here to chat on the phone/via Zoom during a free consult to help you decide if you’d like to set up a full session.
